Portal: Smart Lock Pro (SLP) – Features & Settings (Portal Staff App)

Overview of the configurable SLP settings available from Lock Details in the Portal Staff App.

Written by Sarah Mousavi

Overview

The Portal Staff App lets you view and configure an SLP's behavior from Lock Details > Lock Settings — from keeping a door unlocked on a schedule, to reviewing access logs, to controlling remote unlock. A few features large enough to need their own explanation are covered in dedicated articles: Unlocked Mode, Offline Mode, and Privacy Lock.

Before You Start

  • The SLP must already be connected to a door

  • You need lock management permissions (see Permissions table below)

How to Access SLP Settings

  1. Open the Portal Staff App.

  2. Select the door.

  3. Tap the three-dot menu.

  4. Open Lock Details.

If a setting doesn't appear for a given lock, that feature isn't supported on that hardware/firmware version — unsupported options are hidden automatically.

Settings Reference

Master Code
The admin-level access code for the lock.

Sync Info
Updates lock data between the device and Portal, including the Wi-Fi MAC address and battery percentage — useful after swapping in a fresh battery.

Audit
Pulls access logs directly from the lock (who opened it, when, by PIN/Key/keycard, and failed attempts). Tap Audit while close to the lock; syncing only refreshes what's missing.

Passage Mode
Keeps the door unlocked for a set period (e.g. a common-area door during office hours); it re-engages automatically once the period ends. An "Enable all day" toggle keeps it unlocked 24 hours.

Note: Passage Mode does not auto-adjust for Daylight Saving Time — shift the scheduled hours manually by 1 hour in the opposite direction of the time change.

Wi-Fi
Check connection status or reconnect — see Connecting & Reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

Remote Unlock
Toggle to allow unlocking the door remotely from the Portal Staff App over Wi-Fi.

Privacy Switch
See the dedicated Privacy Lock article.

Lock Sound
Toggle audible beeps on PIN entry.

Firmware Version
View current firmware and start an update if one is available (requires staying close to the lock with wireless enabled).

Keycards/Tags
Add or remove keycards/tags for the door from the Keycard tab (separate from Lock Settings). Keycards are assigned per Key, and must be enabled in the Portal Dashboard customization settings.

Disconnect
Removes the lock from its door. Portal will ask for confirmation; once confirmed, any active PINs/door codes and Keys tied to that lock are removed.

Tips / Best Practices

  • Keep wireless enabled when working on-site

  • Sync locks regularly, especially after a battery swap

  • Update firmware when available

  • Recommended: check all existing locks and confirm the Privacy Switch toggle is OFF unless you specifically need it — this must be done via the Staff App using Bluetooth while standing in front of each lock

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Portal: The lock doesn't appear in the app
Move closer and enable wireless.

Portal: I can't unlock a door
Check that a Key exists for your account and is active.

Portal: Firmware update fails
Restart wireless connectivity and stay close to the lock.

Portal: I can't see guest door codes/PINs in the Staff App
Door codes/PINs are only visible from the Portal Dashboard > door details, not the Staff App.

Portal: Guests keep accidentally triggering a lockout
Set the Privacy Switch toggle to OFF in Lock Settings, then sync while standing near the lock. With the toggle OFF, the physical button has no effect.
