Portal: Connecting & Reconnecting Smart Lock Pro (SLP) to Wi-Fi (including after password change)

How to connect or reconnect an SLP to Wi-Fi from the Portal Staff App, including after a network password change.

Written by Sarah Mousavi

Overview

After installing an SLP, the Portal Staff App automatically prompts you to connect it to Wi-Fi. This article covers that flow, and how to reconnect manually if it doesn't happen automatically or the network password changes.

Before You Start

  • Confirm the network meets the SLP Network Requirements

  • Make sure Bluetooth and Location are enabled on your phone

  • Stay within wireless range of the lock, close enough to touch the screen to wake it

How to Connect (After Installation) or Reconnect (e.g. After a Wi-Fi Password Change)

  1. Open the Portal Staff App.

  2. Open Lock Details for the door.

  3. Scroll down and tap Wi-Fi.

  4. Allow the app to search for available Wi-Fi networks.

  5. Select the desired network from the list.

  6. Enter the Wi-Fi password.

  7. Tap Connect.

Verify the lock reconnects successfully and its status updates in the app. Repeat for each affected door if multiple locks went offline after a password change.

Note:

Connecting to Wi-Fi is optional at install time — if the network isn't ready yet, you can add it later from the same Lock Details > Wi-Fi screen.

Note:

This article covers the standard Smart Lock Pro (SLP), which has a built-in Wi-Fi radio. If you're setting up a Smart Lock Air (the Wi-Fi-less SLP variant), it does not connect to Wi-Fi directly at all — see Smart Lock Air – Overview & Connecting via Gateway instead.
