Introduction
Keeping your personal information up-to-date and securing your account are crucial steps in maintaining a safe and personalised experience on Portal. This guide walks you through the process of updating your personal information, changing your password, and enabling 2-factor Authentication (2FA) for added security.
1. Edit Personal Information & Preferences
To update your details—like your name, gender, date of birth, and preferences—follow these simple steps in your account settings:
Log in to your Portal account.
Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
Select Edit Profile.
In the Personal Info section, update any fields you wish to change (e.g., name, photo, date of birth, preferences).
Once you’re finished, click Save Changes to confirm.
2. Change your password
Keeping your password up-to-date is essential for securing your account against unauthorised access. Here’s how to change it:
Log in to your Portal account.
Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
Select Edit Profile and then choose Change Password.
Enter your current password followed by your new password.
Ensure your new password meets the security requirements (e.g., minimum characters, special symbols).
Click Change Password to save your update.
Password Tips:
Use a strong password that includes a mix of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.
If you don’t remember your password you can reset your password by clicking Forgot Password on the login screen and a reset link will be sent to your registered email address.
3. Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for an added layer of security, requiring a second verification step beyond your password. Here’s how to set it up:
Log in to your Portal account.
Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
Go to Edit Profile > Account Settings.
Under Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), choose your preferred verification method:
Authentication App: Use an app like Google Authenticator or Authy to scan the QR code displayed.
SMS: Receive a unique code via SMS each time you log in.
Once you’ve completed the setup, enter the verification code from your chosen method and click Verify.
Important Notes:
Once 2FA is enabled, you will need to provide the second authentication factor each time you log in, in addition to your password.
Keep a backup method (such as recovery codes) in case you lose access to your 2FA device.
In this section, you can also opt-in for logging in with your Google account.
